World Water Day
World Water Day (22nd March 2024)
Clearing The Land Yeo River with the help of Hydro International.
The Clevedon volunteer group –The Land Yeo Friends, would first of all like to thank personnel from Hydro International, a Clevedon based company, for joining the LYF to celebrate the day – not only helping clear rubbish from the river, but also presenting us with a welcome cheque for £250.00 which will help with our insurance, maintenance costs and provision of equipment.
The combined group, mostly from Hydro International started at the Scout Hut along the river at 9:30am and worked along the river bank using a dozen or so litter pickers and the LYF boat and trailer.
A total of three large bags of ‘one use’ plastic, metal cans and glass bottles were recovered. The townspeople should be thanked for their part in the care of the river, as this amount is nowhere near the massive amounts recovered in the ‘noughties’ when large skips had to be employed.
Later in the day the boat and equipment were cleaned and stored away and the rubbish was disposed of at the amenity site.
